It will be cold again one day...

Even though NYC is still in the midst of a steamy summer, that doesn't mean that one can't start thinking about colder temperatures.  Enter Jenni Kayne's collar-less pony panel coat.  Perfect with jeans and a button-down for day, or tights and a flouncy dress for night.  Definitely adding this for my wish list for fall.

Beckham beats the heat...

The Brits have been experiencing a lot of highs lately.  Andy Murray won Wimbledon, they took the Tour de France away from France for the second time in a row, and there was a little baby boy born yesterday.  In the midst of all of this excitement, London is experiencing soaring temperatures, their first true summer in seven years!  How does a culture where Wellie boots and Barbour jackets are worn year round survive 90+ degree heat?  

Victoria Beckham turned to king of pajama dressing, Marc Jacobs for her beat the heat, chic look.  For his Fall collection for Louis Vuitton, Mr. Jacobs explored the boudoir in a romantic neo-grunge way, showcasing lace negligees under grand astrakhan coats, and long tulle gowns embroidered with flowers.  The collection exposes intimacies and taps into voyeuristic tendencies.  

Does anyone else find it ironic that VB chose to wear a dress from this specific collection to one of the most traditional and prestigious sporting events in the world?  A tournament  known for imparting a strict all white dress code for competitors, where Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter, where a hawk, named Rufus, patrols the skies to ward off any unsightly pigeon excrement from landing in centre court.    

British fashion publications deemed the ensemble "too naked", but I must say she does not appear bothered by the heat.  Kudos VB, for standing on the other side of tradition, and looking good doing it!

Oh Celine...

Pre-Fall collections are starting to arrive in stores.  Even though temperatures are sweltering in the city, department stores are pumping the AC to remind you that the cold weather is coming.   The chunky wool sweater might not be calling out to you now, but handbags always do!  

Céline bags are always the most coveted each season.  Her box bag transcends seasons, you can't have enough of her cabas totes, and the luggage tote still sells out immediately (seven seasons later!).  Fall 2013 brings not only the classics, but some new additions to the Céline family as well.

While the Valentino Rockstud will always hold first place in my heart, the Tan-go is coming up a close second.  The city sidewalk friendly heel and vast array of colors, this heel is at the top of my list for pre-fall.  Now, which color to choose?

Daria in Celine...

Dream team, Phoebe Philo, Daria Werbowy and Jurgen Teller are at it again, ahem fourth consecutive season,  for the Fall/Winter 2013 Céline ad campaign.  

This season profiles a more buttoned-up, sophisticated Daria, while remaining true to the minimalistic brand philosophy with paired down slicked back hair and only essential make-up. 

Is it too soon to start wearing this bold red lip?

Winning at Wimbledon...

Pippa Middleton sat in centre court for the Men's Semi-Finals today wearing an Alice by Temperley knit dress.  The newly appointed Vanity Fair contributor, and tennis aficionado, did make a fashion faux-pas wearing wedges to her seat in the royal box.  The unflattering footwear was just deemed the "least attractive shoe trend", beating out Crocs and Uggs in poll by the Huffington Post.
