End of season splurge...

I spied this Marysia maillot last weekend in East Hampton.  The rick-rack design gives the suit a bit of a retro feel and the cut-out below the bust adds a little bit of risqué to us one-piece lovers.  

This chic Marysia maui maillot is a bit of a splurge for the end of beach season, but will definitely be put to use for winter getaways to Palm Beach.

The President of Pop...

Last night MTV presented their annual Video Music awards in Brooklyn.  In typical music industry form there were performances that tried too hard and outfits that make you wonder where all of the mirrors have gone.  The highlight of the show was Justin Timblerlake receiving the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, presented by Jimmy Fallon.  JT also performed a mini concert for the crowd, highlighting his career from Sexyback and Suit & Tie, to a rare appearance with former *NSYNC bandmates.  It was a truly memorable twenty minutes of television and music history.  

Mrs. Justin Timberlake, aka Jessica Biel, stepped out in NYC last night to celebrate her husbands winnings in a sheer lace Dolce & Gabbana dress from Fall 2013, and a glittery Fendi baguette bag.  The actress embodied racy sophistication, the sheerness was off set by a high neck, sleeves and below the knee hemline.  Paired with simple jewelry, and a sleek low ponytail, the actress certainly showed the music industry how it is done!

Transitioning...

Sadly, summer is nearing its end.  Summer Fridays, bonfires and living out of a duffle bag are soon coming to an end.  But, there are still plenty of things to look forward to!  One of my favorite things about approaching a new season is how I can transition one wardrobe into another.  A bold print dress once worn with nude flat sandals, can now be worn with a cardigan and kitten heels; your favorite patterned shorts can be paired with a cashmere crew-neck and ballet flats.  

This Carven dress is a perfect transition piece.  The colors are bold enough to not be considered summer, and the fit is conservative enough to work as the temperatures drop.

One of my favorite 'tricks' is pairing a cashmere crew-neck sweater over my dresses.  It brings a more casual feel to what is typically a formal look.

Jennifer Aniston baffles us yet again...

Jennifer Aniston has been making the rounds promoting her new film 'We're the Millers'.  In true JA form, she has been wearing solid colored, body hugging LBD's and less than stellar sheaths.  She never looks bad in her choices, but she also never looks ah-mazing.  This week she shocked us all by wearing a Christian Dior floral print.  But, not just any floral print, a print from RESORT 2013! In the fashion world this dress is a relic.  The house of Dior has shown seven (yes seven!) collections since this dress made its debut.  Granted, this is a lovely piece, and special as it was part of Bill Gaytten's last collection for the house. It's great for a summer wedding, or a springtime garden party, but is this really the right choice for the London premiere of your new film?  Is wearing an old French dress really persuading the people of London to see your new flick?   

Often times celebrities will wear a local designer of the city they are promoting in.  Ie, Lanvin in Paris, Valentino in Rome, Oscar de la Renta in New York.  London is the mecca for fashion right now.  There are tons of options for Ms. Aniston to chose from.

The velvet slipper...

The velvet smoking slipper is being referred to as this seasons ballet flat.  The style, which conjures up images of men in silk pajamas (a la Hugh Hefner), were originally intended to be worn solely in the home. Now runways and sidewalks alike are filled with the comfortable, day-to-night loafer.
