Holiday packing... beauty

As someone who has forgotten her field hockey stick when headed off to field hockey camp,
I've learned to love lists.  A list for what clothing items to bring, (sneakers need socks!); a list of what needs to be done beforehand (schedule a manicure and pick up dry-cleaning); and a list of toiletries.  Mundane things like a toothbrush and mascara sound obvious, but as your bag seems to get fuller and fuller, the things you actually need for the weekend seem to get left at home.

 Aerin large cosmetic bag
Embroylisse cream
Hampton Sun after sun moisturizer
Diptyque travel candle (most ocean side rooms smell of eau de must!)
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, fragrance-free
deodorant

Holiday packing...

Off to the beach for the long weekend?
While you've had your new Isabel Marant white dress packed since it arrived from MatchesFashion, and the sparklers are already in the car,  don't forget to pack your pjs.
This pair from Sleepy Jones, is almost too cute to save just for bed.

Shoeday Saturday...

While I am not a fan of a wedge shoe, at all, this mini wedge from Pierre Hardy would pair well with a glass of rosé on the patio...

Book Club...

What better way to kick off the first official weekend of summer than with a new read.
Style meets humor in this new tome about the digital world and the fashion world colliding.
Follow fashion editor Imogen Tate, as she fights back against her twenty-something, former assistant who is trying to turn her luxe glossy magazine into an app.

Hunt Slonem...

The Kips Bay Decorator House,  which occurs each spring, is one of my favorite happenings in NYC.  Various designers from around the country, each get a room to design how ever they wish.  It's a sneak-peak into some of Manhattan's finest real estate and a mecca for interior design mavens.
This year the show house took place in the Arthur Sachs Mansion on East 66th Street.   Designer Philip Mitchell transformed the home's ovular winding staircase using over 100 framed pieces of art.  My favorite the large scale Hunt Slonem bunny painting on the third floor landing.  Flanked by simple sconces, and housed in a large scale, ornate frame, live seven of Slonem's iconic bunny figures.

Slonem's "Rabbits" series can also be seen on display at the bar area of Crowne, on the Upper East Side, for sale at 1stdibs, and available as wall paper from Lee Jofa

Are you beach people...

Beach People is a new brand out of Australia with a fresh take on a classic beach towel: it's round!   Made of 100% cotton, accented with a fringe boarder, the hardest part is choosing just one!

Floor envy...

When I heard that designer and home decor aficionado Jenni Kayne had a collaboration with Pottery Barn Kids, I knew it was going to be something worth checking out.
A favorite piece in the collection is this handwoven Kilim rug.
Now to figure out where to put it!

Aloha...

Pink is not a go-to color for me, but I cannot get this Kayu clutch out of my mind.
Embroidered palm tree on one side, Aloha on the other, it's just the right amount of summer whimsey to counter my monotone summer wardrobe.

Who wears the pants...

Certain women are synonymous with wearing pants.
Bianca Jagger in her trademark white pant suits,
YSL muse Betty Catroux epitomizing the designers laid-back Parisian menswear designs,
Valerie Boster, former Vogue editor and co-founder of La Marque, a fashion consulting firm.

The below image, from Boster's instagram feed, is exactly what I want to wear to all of my summertime events.  Comfortable, cool, and definitely standing out in the crowd.

Check out the EJTShop for my pants picks, on sale!
