Sweet Summer Sleep...

My favorite days are those spent outside. Morning walks, reading on the patio, late afternoon tennis, and eating all meals on the screened in porch.  There is nothing better than washing off the day and climbing into a cool linen bed.   I love my linen duvet that I use it year round - crisp and cool in the summer, soft and cozy in the winter.  I do not have a set of linen sheets yet, but I bet I'll like them.

With so much time spent in the yard now, insulated bottles and cups have become some of the most used items in my kitchen.  Tervis tumblers have always been around, but never have I used one more.  Perfect for iced coffees in the morning, and cold water on my lounge chair, this cup is washed every night and put to use again immediately the next morning.

Basket case...

Fact: I have never met a basket bag that I didn't love.

The minute a woven tote comes out, it means warmer weather, sunshine, sand between your toes, Summer!

The criteria for a handbag has changed, now they need to hold copious amounts of hand sanitizer, extra face masks and gloves.

Summer, without a doubt will be a little different this year.

One thing that remains, the Summer dress!  The wear on repeat go-to piece in your closet that always feels right.

Brent Neale...

Designers doing their part for change.

When Covid-19 first reared its ugly head in NYC, jewelry designer Brent Neale decided to do what she knew best, paint. She painted a single flower each day, to be sold to a quick thumbed instagram follower.  Each dollar of the sale went towards a commemorative bench in Central Park dedicated to our frontline health workers.  

After the tragic events of the past few weeks, Neale took to her flowers again, this time for the NAACP.  For every painting sold, Neale is matching the donation, doubling the impact.

Over the weekend, I was one of the lucky instagram followers.  This Calla Lily will hang in my home, as a daily reminder that I can do better.

Christo...

Christo, the larger than life artist, sadly passed away yesterday.  He is known for his miraculous interactive installments, from draping the Point Neuf in Paris, to lining the walkways of Central Park with orange archways.  His art evoked happiness and whimsy, something we all need right now.
