Not so basic...

After reading this article about how not to be 'basic' in ballet flats,
I learned that thanks to Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, Repetto, etc, the comfortable classic is back in rotation.
When did they leave?
These from Bottega Veneta will make a perfect not-so-basic addition to your summer wardrobe.

Scene stealer...

Pony hair espadrilles.
May seem indulgent - combing two perishable materials into one shoe, but the outcome is nothing short of stellar.
The Céline version has been on my mind for seasons, a bit of an investment with a $500+ price tag.  And, Manebi, a new designer to Net-a-Porter, who has come out with a similar shape, for a fraction of the price.

Traveling clothes…

How do you travel?
Gone are the days of wearing your Sunday Best to head to the airport.  With today's excessive screening, protocol and lines, traveling is not the event it once was.   This does not mean that your wardrobe has to suffer.  Take cues from Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Gwyneth Paltrow below.  Simple grey jeans and a grey top are sophisticated and comfortable - the ultimate traveling ensemble.

Isabel via Madewell...

Isabel Marant's flirty pintucks and lace tops for spring are on everyone's radar.
Sadly, the $800 price tag is less alluring.

Enter the Madewell version.
Their cotton, feminine tank is pretty similar to Isabel's and at $88
you can afford the rest of the outfit too!

The wait is almost over...

Confession: I will be at the movie theater on April 25th when The Other Woman premieres.
I have been waiting for this film to come out for ages (here and here).
The film takes place in NYC and the Hamptons, where the three leading ladies, Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton, are designer clad throughout - Stella McCartney, Altuzarra, Isabel Marant, and the list goes on.

In true form the costars have been hitting their marks on the press tour for the film as well.
Remember CD in VB last week?  It continues...

LM in Delposso, KU in Christian Siriano, and CD in Dior at the Amsterdam premiere.

KU in vintage, CD in The Row, and LM in Giles at the London premiere.

EJT kitchen...

Let me preface by saying that this is not, nor will it ever be, a food blog.
Avocado toasts have taken over the food world lately, blogs, instagrams, and menus alike.
I could go into the benefits of avocados, but I won't.
Quite simply, they are delicious, and this is one of the easiest healthy snacks to make.

Start with a grain bread, this one from Eli's works well.

Once the bread is toasted add mashed avocado mixture and crushed red pepper flakes.

Enjoy with an iced coffee!

Wardrobe additions...

It is that time of year for a closet clean up.
Discard anything you have not worn in the past 12 months, and make room for new additions.
Currently I am on the lookout for neutral pieces, that will work into the warmer summer months.  Enter, Emerson Fry.
The chic New England designer creates 'modern, clean, versatile, long-lasting pieces' without guilt inducing prices.
