How does a culture where Wellie boots and Barbour jackets are worn year round survive 90+ degree heat?
Victoria Beckham turned to king of pajama dressing, Marc Jacobs for her beat the heat, chic look. For his Fall collection for Louis Vuitton, Mr. Jacobs explored the boudoir in a romantic neo-grunge way, showcasing lace negligees under grand astrakhan coats, and long tulle gowns embroidered with flowers. The collection exposes intimacies and taps into voyeuristic tendencies.
Does anyone else find it ironic that VB chose to wear a dress from this specific collection to one of the most traditional and prestigious sporting events in the world? A tournament known for imparting a strict all white dress code for competitors, where Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter, where a hawk, named Rufus, patrols the skies to ward off any unsightly pigeon excrement from landing in centre court.
British fashion publications deemed the ensemble "too naked", but I must say she does not appear bothered by the heat. Kudos VB, for standing on the other side of tradition, and looking good doing it!
