Shoeday Saturday...

It's officially winter.
Boots have returned from their summer hiatus, and the dreaded socks have been worn.
A personal favorite winter boot is the biker boot - they can withstand the elements, and only get better with age.

Pumpkins...

EJT is not synonymous with DIY.
There is no glue gun nor hidden arsenal of crafty items.
But, glitter pumpkins do look fun.  This could be an EJT approved DIY.

Yves Solomon's classic fur-lined parka is the epitome of cold weather chic.
Who wouldn't wish for single digit temperatures when you had a fur lined coat to put on!

Eeny, meeny, mini ...

Often times the trends seen on the streets during fashion month can be more interesting than those on the runway.  This season mini-bags in multiples were seen on sidewalks everywhere.

Two LV's are always better than one.

Weekend Get-away...

I am off for a weekend out of the city,
off to Nantucket to see the leaves change, bike ride around the island, and pull out all of my favorite cashmere pieces.

Living room inspirations...

Confession: I love home decor.
A pair of matching lamps, garden stools, chairs and ottomans truly make me happy.
Domaine Home, One Kings Lane and Pinterest are constantly open in my browser.
I am thinking about sprucing up my living room and can't get enough of the photos below.

Add to shopping bag...

I first spied this sleeveless cashmere turtleneck sweater over the summer.  Now that Fall is in full swing, this sweater is still on my mind.   Paired with jeans and a stripe button down for casual weekends around town, or with black crop pants and ballet flats for a work day.
It may now be time to 'Add to Bag'...

Friday nostalgia...

My memories of department stores are infinite.  I remember buying my Gucci 'Jackie' bag, with my own money, at Bergdorf Goodman, visiting the sparkling Judith Leiber handbags, as a child, at Neiman Marcus, the countless lunches at Bloomingdale's, attempting conversions in my head at Harrods, and walking down the grand staircase at Barneys New York, in LA.  I have eaten, purchased, returned, perused, and grown-up in department stores.  They were weekend destinations, bonding excursions, and education lessons (learning about fit, fabric, designers, etc).
Recently department stores have lost their luster, designers have pulled their wares in favor of opening their own shops and e-commerce has allowed the consumer to purchase in their PJs at all hours of the day and night.  Business of Fashion ran a story about how department stores are trying to gain their customers back through the three R's - reliability, renovation,  and  maintaining their relevance in society.  Its a great read on the future of retail and shopping.

Prepping for the Polar Vortex...

Last winter scarred us all.  Frigid temperatures for days on end, the same coat over and over again.
I took to wearing multiple pairs of gloves at once, and layering my fur vest with everything.
This season I plan to be better prepared, developing an arsenal of warm items early to tackle mother nature.

First up: Theory's wool jacket with coyote fur collar.  The classic shape goes from weekday to weekend, and the fur collar adds some warmth and pizazz.

Check back every Thursday, this winter, for new Polar Vortex prep items...

The last look...

While watching the models saunter down the runway each season is exciting, my favorite part of the show is when the designer takes their bow.  What they wear to their own show is always  what I am most interested in.

What's old, is new again...

Jackie Kennedy was the epitome of chic.
She made shift dresses look refined, and jeans and a tee look sophisticated.
The first lady wore Gucci's iconic hobo-style bag so often, that the house renamed the bag for her.  Both master minimalist silhouettes and timeless elegance - a perfect pair.
