Mellow yellow...

Yellow has been popping up everywhere.
Veronica Beard, J.Mendel, and Delpozo all featured the sunny hue on their runways for Spring 2014.  With Spring only 48 days away, there is no time like now to start prepping your closet.

Couture for Working Girls...

The set for Chanel's spring 2014 Couture show was flaked with two long, steep staircases.  Statement stairs, allowing for only delicate movement.  Not so for Karl.  His theme for the show was futuristic revolution, and he did just that.  Each model ran down the stairs in sneakers, couture sneakers of course,  made by Massaro in python, lace, pearls and tweed.
While watching the show, I could not help but be reminded of Melanie Griffith in Working Girl.  Tess McGill's overly teased hair and iconic commute from Staten Island to Manhattan in skirt suits and sneakers, would have fit in well here.   I wonder if Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" played during the show.

Spotlight on...

Antonio Berardi
A favorite on the red carpet circuit, Berardi studied at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London while also acting as first assistant to John Galliano.
In the less than 10 years since he launched his namesake label, he has not only gained industry notoriety, but he has also become a red carpet favorite for some of todays top actresses. Known for his flawless tailoring and body conscious designs that make women look sophisticated and elegant, he is the go-to designer of the moment.

Cate Blanchett wore Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2014 merely days after the collection was released.

Amy Adams chose a regal blue modern asymmetric gown for the SAG awards this year.

Diane Kruger chose a Pre-Fall 2014 Berardi gown with intricate gold beading on the front, to wear to the Golden Globe party circuit this season.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a suit from the London based designer to the British Fashion Awards last month.

Inspiration-Elle...

Everything about this image makes me smile.  The fur hat, quirky winter themed sweater, the fur lined Sorrel boots, the epitome of apres ski chic.

Hi-Low...

The red carpet of the 71st Golden Globes last night was ehh at best.  Few stood out, Lupita, Cate, but for the most part, the carpet was a scary indicator of what is to come this awards season.  It was nice to see a departure from the typical 'princess' dress, but there were an overwhelming number of hi-low dresses worn last night.  The hi-low silhouette is not new.  The style, often attributed to Cristobal Balenciaga, it came around again in the 2011 fashion season.  It highlights the wearers shoes, and with so many fabulous shoes available right now, none of the wearers below got it right.  Ladies, it is 2014, time for a new look.
