Season of Firsts… Marc Jacobs

"Happy Days Are Here Again" played thru the pillowy cloud set at the Marc Jacobs show the other night.  There feeling of serenity, newness and a clean slate.  Neutrals and soft pastels dominated the runway, in double faced wools, sheer organza ruffles,  and dense crystal beading.

For the love of Phoebe...

The latest T Magazine breaks down our obsession with Phoebe Philo.
A must read for any Philo-phille.
Full article available here.

Probably no one defines the modern sense of comfort with more authority than Pheobe Philo of Celine.  Not long ago, she stunned loyalists with a loosey-goosey collection of long, frayed dresses, soft pajama-like pants and sandals lined with fur.  Well, guess what?  Other designers are still knocking off that collection.  Although Philo has steered Celine somewhat away from that specific style, as you would expect of a designer eager to stay ahead of her competitors, she remains committed to its essence.  For me, that collection captured something rare in today's world of anxious, self-creatd stars - and that is a woman of indeterminate age who knows what she likes and has shrugged of what she no longer has any use for, and maybe never did.

Fashion Week Findings...

Leather!
Specifically, leather pants were everywhere this past week. Layered under dresses and skirts (in lieu of tights) and worn on their own, the original "rocker" piece has become a cold weather staple.

Sofia & Marc….

At yesterday's MBMJ runway show, Marc Jacobs sat front row, with the perpetually chic Sofia Coppola, for the debut collection of Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier.

Score Ms. Coppola's luxe fur from Marc Jacobs main collection at M'Oda Operandi now.
For a cool $4650, you can feel like you too are sitting front row!
