Classics... The Ballet Flat

The. Shoe!
I'm not sure what it says about me that the most worn shoes in my closet are my Vans and my Chanels. With the help of a trusted cobbler, they can last a lifetime.  No matter the season, no matter the occasion, always my preferred shoe.

Classics... The Tank

The ultimate classic, a Cartier Tank
Worn by Jacqueline Kennedy, and Andy Warhol, to name a few, the watch is one of the most iconic timepieces to ever exist.  Designed by Louis Cartier in 1917, the shape is both rectangular and square and accented with a sapphire on the crown.  The Francaise, shown, debuted in 1996 as the 'sportier' Tank.  From every day jeans to a black-tie event, this watch stands the test of time (wink!).

Classics... The Stripe Shirt

A go-to piece for as long as I can remember, a cotton, blue and white stripe button down.  Dressed up or down, weekday or weekend, always a favorite.

Classics... The Jacket

My cotton Dries van Noten jacket is one of my best purchases to date!  I remember the day, being in Barneys (sigh), and they had my size shipped to me from Barneys Los Angeles (double sigh).  I didn't think twice about this purchase, it was a classic!

Sadly, mine is sold out, this Nili Lotan is similar and this Loewe is a stunner.  Slightly oversize shape works over a sweater in early Spring and Fall; the lightweight material ideal for Summer nights.

Classics... The Wayfarer

Partial to the folding classics, to better fit in my Trio, my Wayfarers are always with me.  Made famous by James Dean in the 1950s, the style has truly stood the test of time!
I had my first pair for over ten years.  When they finally broke, I was devastated! Other sunglasses were not as comfortable.  In Goldilox fashion, my Tom Ford's were too tight, my Garret Leight's too small.  The Wayfarer is the perfect fit.

Classics... The Trio

My classics!  Things I always gravitate towards, and get better with age.

First on the list: The Celine Trio bag.
I joked the other day that I could write a dissertation on my love for this bag.  The Trio made its debut under Phoebe Philo's reign at Celine, and was an instant classic.  Three compartments, connected by snaps, as one crossbody bag.  Worn together it holds all of your essentials, or pulled apart as an evening clutch, pure genius!

Venturing out to brunch the other day, I could not figure out an outfit to wear, but my Trio was a given.  I pulled out my navy large bag, knowing I could fit my phone, wallet, keys, sanitizer, spare mask, and baggu.  It is my go-to in nearly any situation, in any season.  A true closet classic!

Lounge ready...

Admittedly, I am very excited for Summer!  It is my season - Cotton dresses, chilled rosé, sunscreen, lounge chairs by the pool and in the sand!  I've already secured my weekend dress for summer,  now for the swimsuits.  A few on my radar...

Green seersucker from H&M. Wallet friendly, so you won't mind that it will smell like sunscreen after the first wear.

New-to-me, Series the Label.  Everything about this suit is in my comfort zone.  One shoulder, full coverage, black.  Chic.

This swimsuit has been all over instagram, and I understand why, it is a showstopper!

Vaxication...

noun: first trip planned after one is fully vaccinated.

What is on your vaxication list?
Mine is simple, SAND!  I want sand.  Sand between my toes, sand in my tote, walks in the sand, shells found in the sand, you get my drift.

Not sure that I'm ready to pop on an airplane, but a stay at Ocean House or Surf Club sounds lovely.  Hotels with their own beaches, creating your own little oasis.

My short list of places to go now that I am vaccinated and things begin to open,
Palm Beach.  The Kips Bay Designer Showhouse is calling my name.
Antelope Canyon.  This remains closed, but when it opens, I'm there!
Mayflower Inn & Spa.  Litchfield has so much to see and do, not to mention basking in the gorgeousness of the Mayflower.
Montecito. California coast, yes please! Beaches, bike rides, and all the avocados a girl can eat.

I scallop, you scallop...

Never enough scallops!

Scallops are everywhere from fashion to furnishings, and I can't get enough.  Scallop work out leggings - yes please! Toothbrush holder, but of course!

I would switch every lampshade in my house to a scalloped one, if I could.   I recently added a raffia scallop shade to my living room floor lamp, it is now my favorite piece in the room!

Scallop edges scream Summer to me.  A perfect everyday dress.

Matilda Goad might be the unofficial doyenne of the scallop.  Her table linens add just the right about of charm to your table.

I would eat PB&J at every meal for a month if it meant securing a set of scallop sconces from Nickey Kehoe.

Scallop pique bedding.  Sweet dreams.

Your floors shouldn't feel neglected, scallop rugs in every size!

Things I am eyeing on Amazon...

I'm dying to try these chocolate chip micro cookies.

I've been searching for new flatware, these (!) might be the winners.

It's no secret that I love all things tennis!

Sconces very inspired by one of my favorite styles, at a fraction of the cost.

I've never met a shirtdress I didn't like.

I have a lot of grout in my kitchen and bath, and I'm always looking for ways to make it sparkle like new.

Out and about...

I am counting down the days until this is me.   Fresh cut and color, painted nails, a pretty dress, wine in hand.   Happy, carefree, and out!  I want all of my upcoming excursions to be formal, I am sick of casual.  I want to put a dress on with all of the jewelry, and pair with an evening clutch.  (I am debating how many dresses I can pair with my favorite Vans!)

I've bookmarked countless dresses over the past few months, itching for a place to go.  This sweet number tops my list, followed by a Rodarte floral.  Really, I would take any one of them!  The piece de resistance, Oscar de La Renta eyelet.  Try not to have fun in this dress, I dare you!

Florals, at home...

It is funny how much can change in a year.   I always had a pretty strict athletic wear mantra, it was 90% black with a touch of navy.  That's it.  I never looked at a print or a pastel.  The Tory Burch chevron stripe was about as exciting as I got.

Enter a year spent at home.  Suddenly my all black wardrobe isn't cutting it.  I crave color, whimsy, and fun!   My eye has gravitated towards floral workout clothes.  Floral.  Something I thought I would never say.   Would I have worn this in public 13 months ago?  Likely not.  Will I wear this for my at home Peloton classes?  Absolutely!

I love this matching top and leggings set,  this one, and this one

So fresh, so clean...

 D. Porthault shams aren't the only items on my wishlist, so are Weezie towels.   The internet loves these towels - super soft, super absorbent, available in any color one could want.  Their imagery is clean and pretty, exactly what you want after a shower.

Sweet dreams...

The D. Porthault Paris sale has begun!  The once a year sale features all of their iconic prints - sheets, towels, sleepwear galore.
I have my eye on shams in this print, seems like a good start for a collection.

Lately...

Having trouble committing to artwork on the wall?  Try plates!

I absolutely adore all things Matilda Goad.  Her home was recently profiled in Domino, and she spoke with the magazine about her home and designs.   More photos of Matilda's home here.

What do you do with items in your home that you no longer need/want?  My go-to's are The Real Real, Linda's Stuff, and Good Will.  The resale industry is booming, with new sites/apps gaining traction.  ThredUp is the latest to go public!

I pull much of my 'wear it, use it' mentality from Preston Davis.  She is constantly driving the point home on her blog.  She has discussed the notion of rentrée and what that will look like.  How we don't need new things to enter into the world, just some patience

Lily of the Valley..

I'm in love... with a plate.  The new Lily of the Valley collection from Moda Domus has me smitten.

I tend to gravitate towards a simple plate.  Nantucket Basket from Wedgwood has been a long time favorite, but Lily of the Valley takes the cake!  What I love most is that each piece is available in either all white or in white/green, endless pairing possibilities.

A wise woman recently said, if you love a china pattern start your own collection piece by piece, don't wait for a wedding registry.   I may be starting a new collection!
