Mud Flaps and Fur Croakies...

Fashion's golden child, Alexander Wang, showed his Fall 2011 collection yesterday to rave reviews.  Focus was brought back to luxury for his namesake collection.  Inspired by winter sports,    Wang sent lush cocoon like outerwear, boyfriend blazers made out of fur and tuxedo jackets with puffer sleeves down the runway.  The looks are desirable and wearable, not clown-like or costume-y.
Accessories on the other hand walked a fine line between downtown chic and bozo the clown.  For starters, heels were adorned with mud flaps.  Once synonymous with Harley Davidson's and mack trunks, models stomped down the runway in stiletto sandals with wildly flapping appendages.

Noticed first in the Balenciaga Spring 2011 campaign, croakies are making a comeback.  Wang reinvented the ubiquitous prep staple, in fur.  Playing on fashions current love affair with fur, Wang created part croakie, part ski goggle, 100% Chamonix apres ski.
