I scream...

Homemade ice cream!
No fancy equipment needed.  Just a mason jar, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract and salt.  Thank you New York Times!

Basic recipe:
1 cup of heavy cream
1 1/2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
pinch of salt
16 oz Mason jar

Pour the cream, sugar, vanilla and salt into the jar and secure tightly.
Shake vigorously, until the cream thickens nearly doubling in size, about 5 minutes.  When the mixture is the consistency of brownie batter, it is ready.
Freeze for at least 3 hours.
Eat.

Yields about 3 servings.

Add-ins: blend in 1/2 cup of fresh berries to mixture before putting in the freezer.
